When I became a first-time homeowner, I knew very little about taking care of a house and I didn’t have the tools. Since then, John has helped me with many projects to improve and maintain our home: repairing the deck, repairing a leaky gutter, installing ceiling lights, installing a TV wall-mount, installing a railing, and more. For several of these projects, he taught me how to do it. I went from not knowing how to hold a hammer, to being comfortable with power tools.

Having my house in good shape feels great, but having the knowledge and confidence to do some of the work myself feels even better.

I contacted John to do some landscaping at my son’s house. Trees and shrubs in the front of the house had gotten out of hand, losing their shape and attractiveness. The tree was completely blocking light from entering a window, and the tree’s roots might have someday damaged the foundation.

John removed the ugly shrubs and cut down the tree. He also rearranged the remaining plants with a more attractive spacing. He pointed out to my son, who’s a young, first-time homeowner, that he could add even more plants to the now empty areas, using some beautiful plants found hiding at the back of the property. After all that messy work, John left the property as clean, or perhaps cleaner than when he started.

In just a day’s work, the house has a dramatic facelift, much more light coming in, and received many compliments from neighbours walking by.
